"Signs of the Times: Documenting the Covid-19 Pandemic Across America"

During the strange and unprecedented events of the Covid-19 pandemic, photographer Eric McKinney has spent the year traveling around the country documenting the pandemic through photos. The empty streets of New York, Los Angeles and New Orleans as these cities came to a halt during the shutdown to stop the spread. Hand-painted signs on Native American reservations, pleading with passers-by to stay home and save the lives of their people. Messages of hope and requests for compliance displayed on the marquee boards of closed movie theaters. Street artists pouring their hearts and creativity into murals and artwork that spread the message of the pandemic. Signs on the doors and windows of closed businesses, forced to shutdown in order to slow the virus from spreading. Messages on the marquee boards of churches who were forced to close their doors when large gatherings were canceled. Signs displaying the "new normal" that followed the weeks of shutdown --- mask mandates, social distancing guidelines, stay-at-home orders, state-issued quarantines, travel restrictions, and the reminder to wash our hands. All of these and more are documented in my collection of photos called "Signs of the Times."
